Elliot Simon to Face John Doyle for 67th District Delegate Seat

Elliot Simon has been appointed by the Jefferson County Republican Party to challenge incumbent John Doyle for Delegate in the 67th District, including Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown. The original Republican candidate, Mark Everhart, withdrew after disclosure of prior legal troubles. Simon ran against Doyle for the same set in 2010 but narrowly lost. In 2012, Simon ran against Stephen Skinner for the 67th District seat, but also came up short. He was born in 1954 and is a graduate of the University of Chicago.  Simon, a member of the county Republican Executive Committee, describes himself as a pro-business candidate and is interested in eliminating the tax on business inventories.  The website Votesmart.org reports that Simon is opposed to state funding for the development of alternative energy and any environmental regulation designed to mitigate climate change.
